Meet Our Pastor

Rev. Dr. Anita J. Gould is an ordained Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church.

Dr. Gould is the Pastor of the historic Agape AME Church in Gaithersburg, MD, and the Director of Christian Education for the Capital District in the Washington Conference. She is a teacher-mentor and the Founder and Chief Education Officer of New Freedom Ministries, LLC.

Dr. Gould founded New Freedom Ministries, LLC, as her commitment to right-response to the call to teach and preach in partnership with pastors, congregation leaders, and community leaders, to provide creative transforming training experiences which usher in discovery of the Power of the spiritual gifts. She developed the Leader-Gift Inventory so that leader-participants may discover and focus on their personal Leader-Gifts given to equip others for the work of Christian ministry.

A native of Washington, DC, Dr. Gould retired as a manager in the Headquarters Office of Human Resources at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Free to follow her passion and share her gifts, skills and talents with individuals and groups she teaches workshops and mentors individuals in the areas of spiritual gifts and Christian disciple development.

Dr. Gould is a graduate of DC Public Schools. Her higher education studies were completed with a Bachelor of Science degree at Morgan State (College) University, a Master of Divinity (M.Div) at the Howard University School of Divinity, and the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min) at Wesley Theological Seminary. She is a Golden-Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and a Life Member of Blacks in Government.
